This article is investigated about the recognition of Jeong Mong-Ju in Sarim of Seonjo and Kwanghaegun through Sunginrok of Yoon Du-Su and Dongsachanyo of Oh Un in order to investigate the understanding of Neo-Confucianism in Chosun Dynasty.
Jeong Mong-Ju was moved up to the rank to the saint from the loyalist by Moonmyojongsa of Jeong Mong-Ju in Jungjong’s period, however, his source was continuously controversial. Lee Hwang in Myongjong’s period obliterated the authenticity controversy by quotation of Jungja words.
In Seonjo’s period, Yoon Du-Su, who was the leader of Seoin, recognized Jeong Mong-Ju as the saint in Sunginrok. He called that Jeong Mong-Ju was a martyr like Moon Cheon-Sang in Song Country. Through this recognition, Pounjib of Jeong Mong-Ju was again spreaded and published in 18 years of Seonjo’s period. The introduction was written by Noh Su-Shin, who was the first vice-premier. and the epilogue was written by Ryu Seong-Ryong. In the process, the information relating to Jeong Do-jeon has been deleted.
After Imjin War, Ryu Seong-Ryong, who was the leader of Dongin, published Pounjib and Oh Un, who was a friend of Ryu Seong-Ryong, was again published after the correction. Oh Un published Dongsachanyo third edition. In this process, Gil Jae, Kim Ju, Lee Yang-Jung, Seo Kyeon, and Won Cheon-Seok were described additionally, they received the attention of the public in Seonjo’s period. It played an important role that the change of the recognition of Jeong Mong-Ju in Seonjo’s period.
Additionally, the story of Jeong Mong-Ju in 16 years Gongmin King period in Dongsachanyo was included in the achievements of Jeong Mong-Ju. This story was showed that Jeong Mong-Ju in 12 years Jungjong’s period was the origin of Chosun Confucianism, and it was emphasized in this story. As disprove it, all stories except the enthroning of Gongyang King and the death of Jeong Mong-Ju were deleted, rather, the death of Jeong Mong-Ju was emphasized as the martyr and was showed the aspect as the saint.
Through this article, we could know that the recognition of Jeong Mong-Ju in Sarim of Seonjo and Kwanghaegun was communicated as the overcome of the Imjin War transcending the partisans. Yoon Du-Su in Seonjo’s period embodied the recognition of Jeong Mong-Ju moved up to the rank to the saint in Jungjong’s period, Oh Un in Kwanghaegun’s period reflected in Dongsachanyo.
