Korean people live with diverse discrimination against weaker people in power, economy, knowledge and status. However, most of the people do not see it because the discrimination factors are firmly embedded in their cultural values that compose the basic assumptions of their perspectives. This essay is a study to verify it based on the cross-cultural theories of Edward T. Hall, Fons Trompenaars and Geert Hofstede. According to Halls theory, High-Context Culture of Korea has a stronger discrimination factor against those who have disadvantage in environment including status and appearance, compared to Low-Context Culture. Trompenaars theory shows a stronger discrimination factor of Particularism against outgroup members compared to Universalism, along with a stronger discrimination factor of Ascription Orientation against the weak in status, compared to Achievement Orientation. According to Hofstedes theory, 4 of his 5 cultural dimensions show discrimination factors: Collectivism has a stronger discrimination factor against individuals (from groups) and out-group members (from in-group members), compared to Individualism. High Power Distance has a stronger discrimination factor against the weak in power, knowledge, economy and status, compared to Low Power Distance. Strong Uncertainty Avoidance has a stronger discrimination factor against the non-mainstreamers or the peripheral, compared to Weak Uncertainty Avoidance. Long-term Orientation has a stronger discrimination factor against the weak in status, compared to Short-term Orientation. However, Strong Femininity (or Weak Masculinity) has a factor suppressing discrimination; it prefers equality to competition and inclines to protection against discrimination for the weak. Thus, it is proven that discrimination is dominant in Korean culture, and the factors are firmly embedded in the values of the culture, inter-acting one another depending on the situation.
