Report Errors
The more the actor practices, the fewer his unnecessary movements, or MICRO-SLIPs. As technology improves, robots also have fewer and fewer unnecessary movements, but conversely, this isolates robots from society. The question of adding MICRO-SLIPs to robot behavior is an important in making robots more acceptable to society, and the discovery of this and its practice is the greatest achievement of robot theater. Seinendan and the Osaka University Robot Theater Project, produce robot theater performances using the most advanced robots, and they have undertaken this challenge. In their representative performances, I, Worker, Sayonara and Three sisters, a MICRO-SLIP is used in communication between robot and human, or robot and robot. This is connected to the practical theater theory of ‘contemporary colloquial theater theory’ which Seinendan completes with human actors, in which they present a daily, normalized coexistence with robots as a feasible world.
