The purpose of this study was to analyze the subjective perceptions of 46 special graduate students and undergraduates by applying the Q methodology in order to assess the subjective perception of the public administration. For this purpose, pilot interviews were conducted with 10 respondents on the basis of 50 statement items derived from theoretical reviews and a total of 26 final Q statements were constructed. The analysis results of the final 29 respondents with these final statements were significant, and three types of recognition were derived. Type Ⅰ is the ‘Administrative - Management Type’, Type Ⅱ is the ‘Administrative - Purpose Realization Type’, and Type Ⅲ is the ‘Administrative - Symbolic Type’. On the other hand, as ‘administrative agency’ and ‘civil servant’ were presented as common items in all three types, all of the respondents perceived these two items as administrative terms. In addition, it was hypothesized that there is a difference in the perception of the administration according to the existence of a major in public administration ora career in the administrative field, and the number of years of career in the administrative field. The results of this study are expected to be meaningful in that they provide a new approach to administrative perception and can provide a theoretical foundation for related research in the future.
