This essay tried to examine young-adult literature based on the question of censorship and controversial locality through Judy Bloom’s Forever. Many Critics suggest YA out of most children’s literary works have carefully been changing its critical methods. For Blume, well-known for teenagers in America and Britain, YA should show young-adults unfamiliar and unfictional world instead of decorated fairy tales. Her text, especially, Forever tried this, using bold and descriptive sexual expressions that resist censorship. However, it has resulted in the re-creation of another Neverland, fantasy-like, still-unfinished and still-fantastic rather than real. Nevertheless, Forever could be viewed differently from the author’s intentions beyond sexuality, though this text was regarded only as a sex textbook for teenagers. Reading this text with unfamiliar but fresh point of views it may be a sign signifying various social meanings and symptoms. Therefore, this article tried to focus on ‘becoming a political subject of young-adults’. If YA Literature is consumed by the young-adults at the stage of growth and if it is the process of becoming a political subject, it will be of immense importance, even if it occupies a small percentage of the literature as a whole. In order for this genre to be properly maintained for ‘yet-to-be-done’ young-adults, more creative attempts and adventures should follow since Bloom opened it.
