The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of shot-rterm high-intensity isometric (IE) & 30m sprint running (SR) with short rest time on GH (growth hormone), testosterone, IGF-1 (insulin-like growth factor-1), cortisol and TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone). Fort his purpose, a Repeated Experimental Design Method was applied to a single group of 18 male college students with an average age of 22.61. Subjects were asked to carry out three experimental conditions at intervals of one week. The results of this study are as follows. First, short-term high-intensity IE significantly elevated GH levels in anabolic hormones, but did not significantly change testosterone and IGF-1 levels. In addition, ocrtisol level, which is a cognitive hormone, was not changed according to IE but TSH level had significantly increased. Second, 30m sprint running showed no significant change in anabolic hormones (GH, testosterone, IGF-1) and TSH levels immediately after exercise but significantly increased cortisol level. In summary, these ersults suggest that the level of testosterone and IGF-1 may increase after the first increase of GH level among the anabolic hormones according to the shortterm high-intensity IE. GH and TSH seem to interact at similar time. The 30m power running does not affect the reaction of anabolic hormones and TSH but it significantly increases the catabolic hormone (cortisol).
