This analysis of Ch`i dance in Korean dance is based on a background of orientalism and the enviromental characteristics. The thought of Ch`, centers on metaphysics of China, has so much influenced, not only to the background of phulosophy and thought of Korea, also to the dance and folk customs in Korea. The thought of Ch`i, developed by philosophers like Lao-Tzu, Chuang-Tzu and Wang Yang-Myung, is a great philosophy of the Orient Which contains a natural law, i, e. the theory that one Ch`i, only, exists in the world of nature and human beings. This thought dominates, specially, the moral of the world of art. When you consider the fact that the subject of dance is a human body, a part of nature and the aggregate of Ch`i, it is necessary to accept the thought of Ch`i positively. There has been serious study and appreciation on the thought of Ch`i for a long time. East and West have come to an agreement on this subject. Finally Ch`i has appeared as a new creative energy in Korean dance. In the view of the Ch`i thought, you can have great sympathy with the theories of Francois Delsartre, the trinity theory of human body and the law of movement based on the harmony with nature. But the sympathy should not be considered as the logic of Ch`i thought, but a subjective opinion of aesthetics regarding the phenomenon that man assimilates to nature, as this is an important idea which is used to analyze, through Mind-Ch`i, the movement and the stand-still of Ch`i in performing arts. Ch`i dance in Korea dance will fill up new energy for the infinite sphere of creation in harmony with the enviroment and oriental philosophy and thought. The study on Ch`i dance doesn`t mean another division in dance. On the contrary, this study was attempted to analyze new possibilities of Ch`i dance in the field of creation. Being an art premising `expression`, dance has limits of consciousness. And for this reason, it requires free and creative practice of consciousness. In order to meet this requirement, there remains a huge range to study continuously about motional, statical conversion or transference of Ch`i Also, it could be foreseen that Ch`i dance, without any certain pattern, should be accepted as on original energy of Korean dance to contribute to the pattern of more sublimate dance. For the future of Korean dance, the present writer would like to dedicate this view to the many persons sharing the same subject and the audience, who have loved and led the Korean dance of today.
