It often occurs the emergency evacuation of the officers and passenger owing to the collision, sinking and stranding of the ship. Under this condition, it is critical factor to shorten the evacuation time in order to increase the survival rate but the narrow and complicated structure of the ship becomes the obstruction of rapid evacuation. The Ship Evacuation Analysis Program (hereinafter referred to SEA-Pro) provides the analysis of evacuation time by considering various factors such as location, width and numbers of emergency exit, etc.
Especially, we tested to prove the reliability of the SEA-Pro at the Hanwoori ship which is a training ship of Korea Institute of Marine and Fisheries Technology. As a result of the test, it shows difference between 6 to 26 seconds, but it is very similar results considering variable situations on the ship. It can be calculated the survival rate by the comparative analysis on the actual evacuation with calculated evacuation time from SEA-Pro and it allows the approach in perspective of human life safety based on this data. It is also available to set the width of aisle, width of emergency exit, numbers and location by considering the number of officer and passenger as well as assigning the proper number of people for the complete vessel which is already built by using the SEA-Pro. It moreover enables to investigate the heavily populated area for the evacuation and disperse the high density population so that it will be capable of planning the effective evacuation.
