In this paper, the vehicle attitude effect on road load was investigated by using an open domain CFD program, OpenFOAM. Both the k-ω SST and the standard k-ε turbulence model were utilized in the prediction of vehicle aerodynamic drag incorporation with RANS equations, and it was shown that the k-ω SST is superior to the standard k-ω turbulence model. The simulation method was applied to the aerodynamic analysis of a realistic vehicle model(DrivAer) with various types of rear styling, such as hatchback, notchback, and fastback. It was found that the results were in agreement with those of the wind tunnel test. A numerical study was conducted to figure out the aerodynamic effect of various vehicle attitudes by altering ground clearance. It was observed that lower ground clearance led to smaller vehicle aerodynamic drag. Finally, vehicle road-load was investigated by calculating coastdown energy loss. It was shown that the change of ±10 mm ground clearance could increase by 2.2 %, 2.7 %, and 2.5 % of energy loss with respect to FTP-75, HWFET, and combined mode, respectively.
