The present paper is about Kiswahili language and its use since the constitutional provision of 2010. It sets out to understand the state and the extent to which Kiswahili has been implemented as an official language in Kenya since 2010 when it was made one of the official languages in Kenya besides English. This paper points out some of the initiatives so far made by various establishments in Kenya. Some of these initiatives are in the media, educational institutions e.g. colleges and universities, government ministries and departments, associations and legal departments. A number of challenges have been pointed out in this paper relating to this implementation and these are like lack of goodwill from the Kenya government and political players, lack of sufficient funding for supporting the implementation and lack of a clear language policy to guide the implementation of the constitutional provision and the inability to establish a Kiswahili council which would help guide, organize, oversee and implement the policy guidelines relating to Kiswahili as an official language in Kenya.
