This paper deals with alternatives of ‘ecosocial commons’ which integrates the concepts of ecological commons and social commons. With special respect to the process-focused concept of ‘commoning’, it elaborates the roles of ‘commoners’ in the cases of mountains and rivers in Ulsan city. As the implications from this research, it suggests that ‘the only earth’ can be sustainable by the creation of ecosocial commons aimed at overcoming the forces of state and market, rather than by the preservation of scarce common resources. In other words, ‘another possible world’, the transformative result from the existing world, might be experienced by the communal relationships between commoners in the process of commoning. In conclusion, ‘another possible world within the only earth’ should be approached from the perspective of commoning which covers the capabilities of the future generation and more-than human agents, not from the short-term principle of scarcities based on the anthropocentrism.
