The paper aims to analyze the possibility of the deterioration of intergovernmental relations and the further military collision related to territorial disputes over Dokdo, Diaoyudao and the Kuril chain that Japan is more and more aggressively claiming. To analyze Japanese foreign policy related to territorial disputes, it is required to comprehend its internal political system and the intention of US’ intervention in other countries’ conflicts as third parties as there have been no changes in the international arena since the Cold War due to continued threat of nuclear war. At regional level, China and Russia are placing much effort in maintaining the strategic balances and stability in the framework of Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) to defy US-Japan alliance. To counter US’ pivot to Asia, the China tries to strengthen relations with Republic of Korea and Russian Federation, thereby improving its economic, political and military positions in North-Eastern Asia. Relating to territorial disputes over Diaoyudao, the key lines of Sino-American contradictions are as follows. The parties have different understanding of what “responsibility to international community” stands for. The US emphasizes its messianism in global security in the framework of US-Japanese alliance while China sees japanese responsibility in preserving international law related to territorial sovereignty. The countries directly involved in the territorial disputes in the North Eastern Asia and third party(US) are seeking their own military and political interests while being ready to use armed force. The point is that the territorial disputes over Dokdo, Diaoyudao and the Kuril chain are mutually related from the military, political and historic point of view. These countries are seeking systematic joint action in the framework of realism beeween the US, Russia and China.
