For most children, fairy tale is the first literary experience. And its translation is therefore an important task for translators. But compared to its importance, there has not been enough discussion on the general rules or standard about fairy tale translation. And many translators take it with less care. This paper analyses and compares 4 Korean translations of Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland, and discuss some typical problems in its translation focusing on puns. The translation problems in the books include mis-translations, awkward expressions, unnatural rhythm and breath, textual authenticity, and style. The translation strategies vary according to readers. Those for little children, domestication of TL is considered most important whereas textual authenticity of ST was not much considered and vice versa. That the puns in 3 books are translated into TT with exegesis implies not only the difficulty in pun translation but also the lack of translators's interest in domesticating puns. And some uses of exegesis are not efficient enough and show no consistency. These problems are from the lack of standard in fairy tale translation. Therefore some rules or standard must be found and established among translators.
