The purpose of this study is to survey students’ satisfactions and accomplishments after they learned a piece by two different instructional types in class piano. The first group learned a piece in a group lesson, but the second learned the same piece in a private lesson. As the results of this study, the students, who learned a piece in the group lesson of the class piano, practiced it with more positive goals, such as a healthy practice, than the students in the private lesson. According to the evaluations for students’ performance by three specialists in piano, the students in group lesson got more excellent results for musical expressions, articulations, and performance skills than the students in private lesson. Above all, 87.1 percent of the university students and 72.8 percent of the middle school students showed positive satisfactions about the class piano which was taught by the group instruction, and they wanted to retake the class piano.
