The children’s literature of North Korea has been unified into appreciation and admiration toward the leader and revolution history because of the special circumstances of North Korean society recognizing the children as the “next generation for revolution” in spite of various kinds of genres in children’s literature. However, it tends to change to some extent due to the global trendrequiring opening and change since 1990. At the heart of such change, there is “Juche (self-reliance) Literature” of Kim Jeongil, which can be said to be the literature guide in North Korea. “Juche Literature” published in 1992 suggests several points of view that have changed from past points of view, along with creation principles for children’s literature. One such change is the revaluation of modern children’s literature. Furthermore, the literature of North Korea has been more focused on aesthetical aspects since 1990. Children’s literature has also been trying to find outvarious ways in creating characteristics and unique works beyond similarity and imitation even in children’s literature. In particular, a few works about the unification of North and South Korea were published. They are valuable because of the literary interface they allow between South and North Koreas.
