English is the subject in which 'teacher' factor is as important as the factors of 'teaching method' and the 'contents'. 'Teacher' factor weighs more in secondary level, specifically. Recently, there is a movement for reform of teacher policy and student teaching experience is being emphasized. Student teaching is a step where student teachers shift from consumers to providers in education. The shift may bring anxiety to student teachers. They have more anxiety specifically when they are preparing for the first class and teaching in the first class. It could be even more in the sense that they are expected to teach English in English. The purpose of this study is aimed to know the student teachers' perception about how anxious the student teachers are in their preparation for their first classes and their first teaching. The data collection was conducted through the questionnaire and the student teachers' journals. It was found that the student teachers have a lot of anxiety in their preparation for their first classes. The most students were afraid that the students would not be concentrating on the class and the flow would not be smooth. After their first classes, they were satisfied since the students followed their directions, whereas they are not satisfied since they had no sufficient time to prepare for the first classes. The findings could give a help to teacher educators for more efficient management of student teaching.
