The objective of this study was to identify the value of music education by verifying the differences in brainwave and brain utilization capability between music major and non-music major students. Target sample was senior university students attending the D university with experience in playing musical instrument or majoring in music. I used the purposeful sampling method, which is one of the non-probability sampling methods. Among target sample students, I selected 16 students (i.e., 8 music major students and 8 non-music major students), who agreed with the objective of the study. I examined the differences in brainwave and brain utilization capability between music major group (treatment) and non-music major group (control). When the value of music education at the aspect of the brain science to the school education was showed as the conclusions of this study, they could be summarized as follows. First, music activities improved the stable status Theta wave. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and distribute a counseling program utilizing meditation music based on the brain science, which facilitates self-healing as well as contributes to personal growth and unification. Secondly, music activities contributed to the improvement in SMR wave and Alpha wave. Consequently, it is needed to develop and distribute a music-healing program based on the brain science, which improves self-driven learning and psychological health (e.g., physical and psychological relaxation, and stress reduction). Thirdly, music activities improved the SMR wave and Alpha wave of both left and right brains. It is necessary to conduct a whole person education combining both cognitional and emotional education by employing whole brain education through the brain science based music program. It is necessary to develop a program supplementing the weakness of less utilized brain, so left and right brains can make music activities in the unified fashion.
