This study suggests the types and expression characteristics of art makeup design through case studies at the biomimicry organism level and determines how these levels can be applied to the beauty industry. For this, the cases were investigated through previous studies. Then, art makeup design was analyzed based on the organism level after collecting art makeup images. For analysis, the organism level was classified into aesthetic and symbolic characteristics, and the results found the following: In terms of aesthetic characteristics, first, they are expressed with aesthetic elements such as color, point, line, plane, texture, harmony and shading. Second, the aesthetic features from the formative beauty of minerals can broaden the expression of art makeup with creative texture. Regarding symbolic characteristics, first, each object’ s symbolic images are expressed in 3D, using makeup transformation products and objet techniques. Second, design can be conceived from diverse aspects by disassembling an organism shape and expressing it in a formative transposition state. Based on the said conclusion, this study has been able to confirm a possibility of aesthetic elements in an ecosystem and symbolic shapes of an organism as a motif in art makeup design, using the organism level. This study is significant in that it expands and further develops the formative expression of art makeup through the development of new materials and techniques. Therefore, there should be further studies on how it would be approached and applied in the beauty industry based on interdisciplinary convergence studies.
