This study aims to explore an adaptation of digital storytelling into on-line ELT contents. A technique of digital storytelling is one of the innovative approach into computer game, animation, digital movie and web entertainment based on a digital scenario of e-learning contents. However, in ELT field, it has not been found how to deploy and design a technique of digital storytelling successfully (such as plot development ,evaluation tools, and a framework of storytelling techniques) into the network-based e-learning environment. The purpose of the research, therefore, is to investigate these questions - how a technique of digital storytelling can help students 1) to understand the on-line ELT contents, ‘Business English and international manners' and 2) to improve their motivation to learn the e-learning contents. For the study, 170 cyber university students and a teacher and an assistant interacted with one another during a single semester, exchanging group discussion chat and the students' assignment. Data from different sources (students' assignment, interview and discussion chat) were triangulated in order to give a more complete view of the research questions. Analyzing content and developing coding categories by means of Nvivo2 (computer-aided qualitative data entering and analysis) was the main technique used for analyzing the data in this study. The results of the students' assignments for the research questions and interviews show that the storytelling technique of the on-line ELT content has some positive effects on the students' learning process and motivation in that it can provide them with a novelty of visual images by associating the virtual characters of the on-line content and a cohesive scenario through the dramatized animation story.
