The purpose of this study was to investigate about current status of field work learning in biology domain in elementary schools and to find some implications. A total of 72 elementary teachers in Busan and Gyungnam districts was involved. In this study, the data was gathered from questionnaire on necessity and actual condition of biology field work learning according to biology content chapters in elementary school science curriculum. The major findings are as follows:1. The number of chapters required field work learning is 11 among total 15 biology chapters.2. Merely 4 chapters among biology ones have high ratio of implement of field work.3. Many teachers recognize the requirement of field work learning if it is suggested on teachers' guide.4. The implement ratio is high on the chapters that is suggested discovery-learning model in their teachers' guide. From the result, we conclude that students' hands on activities with real materials in natural environment must be included in elementary science textbook and preservice and inservice teacher education must be enriched so as to develop their abilities of curriculum reorganization.
