The police performs their extensive duties. They could get injured by dealing with criminals in emergency demands. So, the police exposed to the risk of violence by the criminals. And, the risk of violence have influence on burnout and occupational satisfaction. The purposes of this study are to describe the violence experience, burnout and occupational satisfaction among police officers in Korea and to identify the correlation among these three variables, especially, effects of the violence experience on burnout and occupational satisfaction. Lastly, This research presents two recommendations for improvement. First, Many corporations in the West have developed Employee Assistance Programs(EAP) in order to minimize the diverse problems of workers and families, as well as to maximize the productivity in the workplace. Police should consider EAP to introduce in police agencies. Second, A bright light of support to the work of the old line peers is the proliferation of the use of Critical Incident Stress Management(CISM) and particular one of its components, Critical Incident Stress Debriefing(CISD). CISM consists of a comprehensive program of training, stress inoculation, management awareness, and formalized agency response to critical incidents. CISD is the specific response of using trained peers to work with all exposed personnel after a potentially traumatizing event. In USA, more and more agencies are providing CISD after critical incidents. Some have adopted the full program of CISM. CISM and CISD should be introduced in Korean police agencies too.
