The aim of this paper was to investigate study-abroad students’ view of native and non-native teachers of English and their motivation for L2 learning. A study was conducted in which ten Korean students enrolled at elementary and middle schools in America participated as subjects, and data were gathered via questionnaire. Both similarities and differences were found between two groups of English teachers in four teaching characteristics. This indicated that both groups of teachers had their own strengths and weaknesses in L2 teaching, and should take advantage of equal opportunities to become professionals in order to help students be more proficient L2 users. Subjects were also shown to have both higher extrinsic and intrinsic motivation which led them to study L2 hard for attaining native-like proficiency, gaining higher scores on tests, and living in English-speaking countries. Some suggestions were offered for further studies on two groups of L2 teachers and study abroad in L2 learning.
