How historical theory appropriate space theory of human geography? This essay aims to survey spatial theory of Henri Lefebvre and Michel Foucault. Especially they are scrutinize time and space by the refered to concept of Heterotopia(Hétérotopie) as a tool of spatial theory. By this concept Lefebvre who defined space as a matter of social production to search for ideal society. The space of Lefebvre is now understand a rhythmeanalyse space of everydaylife which operated trialectics composed of social practice, representation of space, representative space that constituted mainly city life. In this context, heterotopia of Lefebvre and his disciple has characteristic of utopian space despite of critique on reality of urbanism. To compare Lefebvre, Foucault’s Heterotopia was decentralized space a which has logic of heterology as such discontinued, displaced, transformed, disrupted and dispersed. But this space is seems as not a distopia or utopia but discoursive incomplete space. This lead Foucault’s concept of history to non-teleological, non-objective and non-substantial in itself. Heterotopia space of Lefebvre and Foucault have same purpose which grope for politics of place where outflow new vitality, namely democratic space of politic beyond static and closeness of the society.
