The purpose of this study is to offer the basic data which are needed for expanding the base of those who will enjoy dancing by making a close inquiry into the enjoyment factors of the students majoring in dance and by examining the relationships between the enjoyment factors and background variables . For this study, the questionnaire survey ,which had been revised from Sung Chang Hoon and Kim Byung Jun's questionnaire named Sports Enjoyment factor(1996), was conducted on 373 female students who are majoring in dance in art high school and college. The results are as follows: At first, it is shown that the students who are majoring in dance have five enjoyment factors : Practice and benefits, Conquest and competition, Atmosphere of the group the students belong to, Contest participation, and Self-perception of competence. Secondly, practice and benefits factor has a Cronbach's alpha of .82, which shows the internal consistency of the factor, while conquest and competition factor has a Cronbach's alpha of .83. Cronbach's alpha of atmosphere of the group factor is .83, and Cronbach's alpha of contest participation factor is .80. And Self-perception of competence factor has Cronbach's alpha of .75. Thirdly, the values of conquest and competition factor and contest participation factor are higher among high school students than among college students. Fourthly, out of the five factors, the value of self-perception of competence factor is higher among the student majoring in korean traditional dance. Accordingly, it is confirmed that the enjoyment of dance comes from five factors, and the validity and reliability of the measurement of these factors are also confirmed.
