The purpose of this study is to extract social sustainability factors of residential environment through analysis of previous research and to grasp the characteristics of social sustainability of the community housing model which is recently receiving social attention. The subject of the study is Eunhe Community housing, which is discussed as a good example of community-based housing as well as the design aspects of architecture. The research method is to extract social sustainability factors through literature survey and analyze social sustainability characteristics of the target housing through the field survey, interviews, and expert seminars. The results are summarized as follows. First, the architectural characteristics are actively used as tools to promote social sustainability. Second, various contents play an important role in promoting community activation among residents. Third, a highly similar human network and the existence of the center point are important in enhancing community cohesion in terms of social sustainability. Fourth, it is necessary to consider social sustainability from a macro and long-term perspective such as social integration and regional development. Eunhe Community housing is an alternative housing that is designed to solve the social problems through a community and a good example of building the social ecosystem for community housing in terms of social sustainability.
