The purpose of this study was to explore what perceptions of the art of nursing that nursing students with experience of clinical practicum would have. For this, the intrinsic nature of their experiences have been investigated using phenomenological research methodology. The study subjects were composed of 41 nursing students in the senior year who had experienced clinical practicum, and they were explained the purpose of the study and interviewed with the informed consent. During the study period from March 1st to June 22nd in the year of 2016, significant findings were discovered from the interviews and questionnaires of the subjects, and data analysis were implemented stepwise based on Colaizzi’s (1978) phenomenological research methodology. The interview questions included “In what perspective do you think nursing is art?”, “Please give some examples of clinical practicum that nursing could be art”, “As a nursing student, please suggest what to do in order for nursing to be art”, etc., and each interview began with casual questions regarding recent issues or personal matters to help the subjects feel more comfortable before starting the formal questions. Out of 98 meaning structures derived from the outcomes of the interviews, nine research agenda and three groups of the agenda were established. It is expected the results above would promote understanding of nursing students’ perceptual structure of the artistic perspective of nursing.
