The dictionary of ≪Xiandai Hanyu Cidian≫ which was published by the publisher “Shangwu Inshuguan”, has now had a big influence on people in China and around the world. According to the dictionary, the term “Xiangdang” has the function of an adjective. In this case, it means “suitable” or “fit”.
In studying grammar, the most important thing is to explain the phenomenon of the language. No matter how many grammarians believe in a theory, if it does not explain the language, it would lose ground to stand on.
When “Xiangdang” also is used as an attribute, it also has the meaning of “considerable”. This kind of situation is quite different from ordinary adjectives.
Therefore, in my opinion, adjective “Xiangdang” should be rearranged as follows:
