The purpose of the present study is to verify the effectiveness of mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR) and Yoga on the life stress and mental health of university students majoring in physical education. The subjects of this study were 85 physical education majors at W University in Jeollabuk-do, Korea. They were divided into the experimental group and control group depending on their experience of MBSR and yoga were observed for 15 weeks from Sep. 2 to Dec. 15, 2019 for a comparative analysis. Used for measurement were life stress and mental health test papers. The descriptive statistics as well as the repeated measures of ANOVA were also employed to analyze the data. As a result, the analysis found, first, a significant difference in life stress of the experimental group that performed MBSR and yoga. Second, there was a significant difference in mental health of the experimental group who underwent MBSR and yoga. Summing up the outcomes of the analysis as above, it may be said that MBSR and yoga might have a significant effect on the life stress and mental health of physical education university students as they will experience changes in their breathing, mind, body, and consciousness. Such experiences can, then, have a positive effect on their social life including their interpersonal relationship and confidence in their daily life.
