This study will present research on the media-hybrid expression of photo-sculpture as a concept of contemporary mediums. Its inherent obsolescence as a post-medium, is revealed by the mechanical memory of materiality. Reinventing the medium is based on the obsolescence that is inherent in the artwork’s expression. In Alain Paiement"s Sites Photographiques, a three-dimensional physical space is granted to the photo, while Osang Gwon’s Deodorant Type expresses photo-sculpture based on the properties of sculpture inherent in photos and sculpture. Juhyeon Kang’s Three-dimensional Photographic Drawing shows photo-sculpture that can be perceived as the process of action. From this perspective, photo-sculpture becomes a re-invented medium that is based on differential specificity.
