When limited to Russia, academic approaches to camp prose began in the mid- 1980s. Based on academic achievements, in the 2000s, to understand the universal characteristics of camp prose was appeared. According to the academic achievements that have been carried out so far, camp prose is carefully defined as "literature that sincerely conveys the problems of the camps, the wrong history, and human nature". Of course, in order to prevent the wrong history from being repeated any more, the change to a just society should also be included in the goal of the camp prose. In order to convey the truth and dream of social transformation, camp prose inevitably imparts to readers the impression that the camp situation depicted in the text actually happened. This is because it can bring out the empathy of the readers more broadly.
This study focused on how the grammar of camp prose, especially the narrative strategy of recognizing the camp experience as an objective fact, is actually implemented in Solzhenitsyn"s One day in the life of Ivan Denisovich, which made a decisive contribution to the formation of camp prose in Russia. Solzhenitsyn gained the possibility of allowing readers to perceive the contents of text as facts by using ‘polyphony and pseudo-direct speech, the aesthetics of numbers, and narration based parentheses-out of text ".
