중국은 단일화된 개인정보보호법이 존재하지 않고, 네트워크 안전법, 형법 등에 포함된 개인정보보호 관련 조항에 근거하여 개인정보보호 정책을 수립·집행하여 왔다. 2020년 10월 중국은 개인정보보호법 초안을 공개하고 의견을 수렴하며, 입법 절차를 진행 중이다. 본고에서는 중국 개인정보보호법의 입법 취지, 주요 내용, 한국 기업에 미칠 영향 등을 살펴보고자 한다.
