Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are multipotent stromal cells that can be found in almost all organs, and their anti-inflammatory, anti-apoptotic and anti-fibrotic ability as well as immunoregulatory potential made these unique cells a novel tool for tissue regeneration and treating immune disorder. Since the biological characteristics of MSCs, e.g., their tropic effect on other neighboring cells are largely dependent on their extracellular milieu, establishing a suitable niche for MSC culture via providing extracellular matrix scaffold have been being rigorously investigated.
