In recent years, the social demand to improve the quality of education and to secure unique competitiveness of universities has greatly increased due to rapid changes in the social environment such as the decline of the school-age population and the Fourth Industrial Revolution. The purpose of this study is to derive a systematic roadmap for a life-cycle customized teaching support program so that appropriate teaching competencies can be developed according to the educational background or position of university professors. In this study, teaching competencies are classified into basic competencies and lecture competencies, and the relative importance of 17 detailed teaching competencies is evaluated by applying an Analytic Hierarchy Process. In addition, the current demands for teaching competency are analyzed through in-depth interviews, and by synthesizing this, a life-cycle customized teaching support roadmap is derived. The analysis process of deriving teaching competencies, analyzing their importance and demands, and building a life-cycle customized teaching support roadmap might be used as useful information for developing innovative teaching strategies.
