Purpose
Better prediction of ypT0-1N0M0 might expand the indications for non-radical management rather than total mesorectal excision, which is associated with significant morbidity and anterior resection syndrome. This study aimed to explore whether magnetic resonance tumor regression grade(mrTRG) improves the prediction of ypT0-1N0M0 in ycT2-3N0M0 patients after chemoradiotherapy with mid and low rectal cancer.
Method
This multicenter, retrospective study enrolled 124 patients with mid and low rectal cancer at stage ycT2-3N0M0 in three referral hospitals between 2004 and 2020. The study participants underwent surgical management after chemoradiotherapy, were evaluated for mrTRG, and pathologic report. mrTRG and clinical data were compared between the two groups of ypT0-1N0M0 and ypT2-4orN1-3M0.
