This study aimed to analyze literature and its contents to diagnose current status of convenient facilities and housing services for single-person households and suggest future directions for improving residential environments for them. The lifestyle of single-person households are getting diverse. This phenomenon seemed to be accelerated as the society were facing COVID-19. It is thus necessary to analyze the demand from single-person households regarding physical and nonphysical environments. This research employed a qualitative approach. mainly using the content analysis of published articles and materials. This research focused on the requirements for residential amenities and housing services for single-person households living in urban areas. Major findings are as follows: 1) Among the physical factors, locations for homes and various site amenities near homes were indicated by many previous studies. 2) Among the housing services, single-person households preferred concentrative and essential services that support their daily life, such as the housekeeping service, rather than diverse and numerous ones. 3) Additional review of literature revealed other countries provide housing and programs under various conditions considering the characteristics of single-person households. This study would provide a foundation for future research regarding various amenities and housing services available for single-person households in residential environments.
