Southern lady codes forbade women to satisfy their desires. Also, Southern lady codes were combined with religion, the patriarchal system, the capitalistic system, racism, etc. Nevertheless, Lena Grove in William Faulkner’s Light in August has a positive estimation, which is mostly based on a mythological approach. However, this article will focus on how realistic she is. Lena’s journey is for liberty from endless process of these lady codes. Above all, Lena’s line of flight can be seen as positive through a mythological approach as well as the positive process of seeking her desire. Also her travel is significant because it helps to build solidarity with minority. Against the opinion of considering Lena to be a fool, this article reveals that she de-territorilizes the Oedipal region so as to seek her desire for an anti-Oedipus. Lena’s parents were dead when she was young. She was supported by her brother, who was a married man struggling to survive in poverty. Furthermore, she suffered from hard house-work and Oedipal structure. Lena tries to seek her desire through becoming a sexually liberated woman. she shows the possibility of incest with her brother McKinley Grove by moving through the flow of her libido.
