This study attempted to verify the mediating effect of depression in the effect of subjective health status of adolescents on happiness. To this end, using data from the korea children and youth panel survey(KCYPS) 2018(2nd year) data disclosure date(December 1, 2020) by the korea youth policy institute, SPSS 25.0 and Process Macro 3.5 (Model 4) were used to target 2,438 first-year cohorts of middle school students nationwide. Analyzed, As a result of this study, first, it was found that the subjective health status of adolescents positively predicted happiness. Second, it was found that subjective health status was significantly predicted by depression and amulet. Third, depression was found to significantly predict happiness as a talisman. Fourth, depression was found to be partially mediated in the relationship between subjective health status and feelings of happiness. In other words, it was confirmed that the subjective health status raises the feeling of happiness, but also indirectly lowers it through depression. Through the results of this study, we tried to suggest policies and programs that can improve subjective health status and reduce depression in order to increase the happiness of adolescents.
