The present study was designed for elucidation of structural changes in artificial gastro-intestinal model (AGM) and the intestinal immune activities of the polysaccharides (GPP-0) from wine pomace. In an in vitro assay, GPP-0 showed higher production of IgA, GM-CSF and bone marrow proliferation activity through Peyers patch than other tested polysaccharides from some edible plants. To investigate the in vivo effects on intestinal immune system, oral administration of GPP-0 to C3H mice potently increased the bone marrow proliferation and hematopoietic growth factors (GM-CSF and IL-6).
