The purpose of this study was to develop a coaching program to improve the competency of social workers. First, in order to develop a coaching program to improve the competency of social workers, the theoretical basis on the program was established with a literature review. Second, at the stage of examining the social workers’ needs, the direction of the program and basic framework were set through an examination and analysis of the needs of 50 social workers and related government officials through the consultation of experts. Third, the final program was made in consultation with the experts. The research suggests a few points for future studies on the basis of the results. It is necessary to identify the extent of changes of impact and to increase the completeness of the program through in-depth qualitative analysis of the effectiveness of this coaching program on social workers, members of the organization, and clients.
