In this paper, I have reviewed prior research on the current status of Anglo-American philosophy research in Korea, and discussed what conditions should be preceded in order for a major in philosophy to become a 'philosopher', out of the role of a simple importer of knowledge. According to Dewey, the problem of philosophy arises in the process of inquiry to solve social problems. Therefore, philosophical problems are local and context- dependent. No matter how abstract the philosophy seems to be, the root of the problem is related to the difficulties that arise in the social life environment. If the request for 'our philosophy or Woori-philosophy' is a philosophical question that reflects local peculiarities from the viewpoint of 'anti-essentialist', the theme and methodology of Anglo- American philosophy has aspects that are difficult to respond to the requests. However, even if philosophical thought reaches the universal realm, it is not something that is transcendental. Philosophy should be viewed as a result of cultural hybridity that is created by communicating with local discourses rather than universalism that transcends historical contexts. 'Our philosophy' will probably be possible when a fluid inquiry community is formed that is interested in addressing a common regional problem. Such a community of inquirers has at least not be formed in the domain of Anglo-American philosophy. The researchers of Anglo-American philosophy in Korea have grown quantitatively and qualitatively. However, there are not many attempts to deal with regional specificities in relation to the themes of Anglo-American philosophy. The formation of 'us' will be possible when an autonomous theoretician who rewrites the theory he understands into a new metaphor that he has created will be possible. The birth of such a theorist would be the process of producing cultural hybridity. Therefore, the argument of the writer is as follows: In order to do 'our philosophy', context should be formed, creative writing should be made, and 'we' should be formed as a community of discourse.
