The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of the democratic school culture on the school effectiveness, using data from the Seoul Education Longitudinal Study [SELS]. In accordance with the purpose, this research reviewed theoretical studies and reported evidence on the relationships between research factors regarding a school culture and effective- and [or] successful- schools. The results of the study provided by the AMOS program revealed that 1) the relationships among school members positively influenced the factors of the school effectiveness, 2) student and teacher engagement in schooling also significantly influenced school effectiveness, 3) working conditions in secondary schools were positively related to teachers’ school and job satisfaction as well as teacher professionalism. This study proposed several suggestions and policy implications based on the results of the study.
