『Gogeum-bieon(古今鄙諺)』 newly collected in Dasan Museum is a book authored by Dasan Jeong Yak-yong(丁若鏞), which consists of three separate chapters, ｢Gogeum-Bieon(古今鄙諺)｣, ｢Baekeonsi(百諺詩)｣, ｢Aheon-Jiha(雅言指瑕)｣.
Dasan was aware that there were many proverbs not collected from Confucian scriptures and ancient hitory books in 『Idam-ryujeung(耳談類增)』 written by Wang, Dong-gwe. Accordingly, he collected proverbs under the principle that the sentences in Confucian scriptures and ancient history books should be contained as they are.
｢Gogeum-Bieon｣ is a version produced around this time. Lee Hak-rae and Hwang Ji-cho participated in the correction together, so it is presumed that the book produced before Dasan moved to Chodang. ｢Gogeum-Bieon｣ contains 110 proverbs which were categorized by book name, arranged in the order of chapters. Also proverb’s source was written in note.
After writing ｢Gogeum-Bieon｣, Dasan excluded 8 proverbs that are difficult to extend their meaning to everyday levels. In addition, referring to several books including 『Idamryujeung』, he collected "Chinese folk saying" that he had not collected before. Then he sent the result to Sin Jak(申綽), and asked for the supplement of the missing proverb. At this time, he received ‘about 10 proverbs’ from Sin-Jak, whose scope is 16 proverbs loaded in 『Idam-Sokchan』, which are not included in ｢Gogeum-Bieon｣ and 『Idamryujeung』.
