Objective: The present study pursued to provide the frame of explanation and to examine the teacher"s practical experiences of infant-centered⋅play-oriented curriculum.
Methods: This study was analyzed using videos of play cases for the infant and toddler classes aged 0 to 2 years old in six daycare centers that were selected for the Child Care Support Center Competition. Data analysis was based on the methods of Grounded theory, the three-step analysis consists of open coding, axis coding, selective coding. In the process of data analysis, a literature review was conducted to find the meaning and intention of the experience as a play supporter beyond the simple description of what teachers do.
Results: Findings were as follows: Teachers started to support play by observing and reading the infant and toddler"s play behavior sensitively. And teachers provided time, space, and play materials as an environment that could lead the infant and toddler to play. Teachers supported Infant and toddler to fully enjoy play by using methods suitable for their developmental level, and they were following the infant and toddler"s play by observing and reading the play behavior while playing.
Conclusion/Implications: This study is expected to be useful for the role of teachers as play supporter in the infant-centered⋅play-oriented childcare curriculum, and to conduct that various case studies and semantic analysis studies to strengthen the competency of infant and toddler teachers.
