In this paper, we will consider that the MERGE-based System in Chomsky (2019a, b) and Chomsky et. al. (2019) can account for the Freezing Effects in English. Furthermore, we will also prove that the MERGE-based System can successfully explain the Anti-Freezing Effects in ECM and object shift in English. To capture this argument, we will consider the previous analysis of the Freezing Effects and the Anti-Freezing Effects, under the framework of labeling theory in Goto (2016) and the revised anti-locality constraint in Luis (2020), point out their problems, and suggest a new analysis of the Freezing Effects and the Anti-Freezing Effects under the framework of the MERGE-based System in Chomsky (2019a, b) and Chomsky et. al. (2019).
