Applying Hanbok’s traditional features to school uniforms is not only a solution to the economic, practicality and convenience of existing western-style school uniforms, but also an important strategy that will give young people an opportunity to easily and continuously encounter traditions in their daily lives. Increasing opportunities for young people to interact with traditions in their daily lives has great significance in that it not only has a positive effect on the self-establishment of young people, but also contributes to the maintenance of traditions. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to extract the factors that should be considered for the development of school uniforms using Hanbok for high school girls. For this purpose, the attitude toward the existing western-style school uniform, the experience and perception of Hanbok, and the perception of the school uniform using the Hanbok were collected through in-depth interviews focusing on the personal experiences of 9 high school girls. The results are as follows. First, in terms of aesthetics, Hanbok’s biggest characteristics, "collar and sympathy", "clothing", "round shoulders", "sleeve sleeves", and "rich skirt’, should be featured. Also it is necessary to develop new pattern to improve the silhouette and wearability at the same time. Second, using synthetic fabrics in consideration of price and washability was necessary, and appropriate materials should be used for warmth, ventilation, and hygroscopicity. Last, for color, it is necessary to use a color that has not been used in the existing school uniform and the color scheme of the Hanbok. In addition, in order to increase the opportunities for young people who will pass on the tradition to the next generation, the education that can continuously experience and interact with tradition in daily life, and foster a perspective on tradition through one"s own subjectivity is needed. and active improvement should be made in design, usability, activity, and wearability for adoption of school uniform using Hanbok.
