Zhu Dexi and Choi Hyun-bae’s views on lexical categories have a profound impact on the Chinese and Korean grammar circles. This paper mainly starts from three aspects: standards for word classes division, system of word classes, and processing of multi-category words, compares the contributions of the two scholars to part-of-speech research in Chinese and Korean. Through the comparison, it is found that the standards for word classes division of the two scholars are different, and the parts of speech system of the two are both innovative and concise. When dealing with multi-category words, the homogeneity strategy is the main method, and the homogenous strategy is the second priority. The part of speech system of the two conforms to the relevance of part of speech and its expressive function, and conforms to the classification view of word class typology, thus becoming the cornerstone of the theory of Chinese and Korean word classes.
