Purpose : The purpose of this study to investigate the reliability and validity of the Eating Assessment Tool(EAT-10) as a clinical evaluation tool for dysphagia with stroke patients and to find out their clinical usefulness as a screening tool. Methods : TA total of 50 patients with stroke participated and 15 stroke patients without dysphagia and 35 stroke patients with dysphagia were identified following the VFSS. After measuring the content validity of the K-EAT-10 and compared with estimating criterion validity. Furthermore, the effect of the lesion, diet method, and swallowing function on K-EAT-10 in patients with stroke were investigated. In addition, K-EAT-10 scores were compared to the Video Fluoroscopic Swallowing Study (VFSS) findings to estimate the sensitivity, specificity, positive & negative prediction of aspiration. Results : There was a strong correlation (r=.904, p<.01) between the overall scores of the K-EAT-10 and the K-DHI. Internal consistency was identified for reliability verification(⍺=.901). Based on the response data from 33 experts, content validity verification was conducted Content Validity Index (CVI) of 0.70 or higher. In ROC Curve analysis of K-EAT-10 the cut-off score was found to be 86.7% sensitive and 77.1% specificity, based on 10 points, and the area under the curve was shown to be .86. In addition the positive predictive value (PPV) for the K-EAT-10 was 91% and the negative predictive value (NPV) was 60%. Conclusions : TAlthough negative prediction shows a relatively lower probability than positive prediction, it is believed that it can be useful as a clinical test for predicting the dysphagia.
