This paper discusses the reasons for the different expressions of Chinese and Korean for the same action of ‘weeling a bicycle’, and tries to compare the reasons and make a cognitive interpretation. First of all, we made a comparative analysis of the lexical members and their semantic characteristics of the concept domain of ‘moving things horizontally with hands’ in the two languages, so as to clearly understand the distribution of members in the concept domain of the two languages and the semantic characteristics of each conceptual structure, and based on this, we specifically analyzed the causes of the concept matching combination expression of Chinese ‘push bicycle’ and Korean ‘pull bicycle’. Secondly, we further compare and analyze the cognitive differences of the expression between the two nationalities. Due to the different connotation of the conceptual elements of the concepts ‘push’ and ‘drag (pull)’ in the cognition of the two nations, the semantic structure and semantic characteristics of the two words are also different. However, when ‘bicycle’, a new means of transportation, appeared, the observation and cognitive perspectives of the two nations were also different, so the two nations chose words that could express the dimensional features highlighted by the perspective and had the semantic features in the semantic structure to match and combine to express the specific action behavior. At the same time, this paper also examines the matching combination of the diachronic level of ‘push’ in combination with historical documents, further understanding and confirming the semantic characteristics of the conceptual structure of the Chinese concept of ‘push’. Finally, this paper puts forward some suggestions on the ‘comparison of Chinese and Korean languages’ and ‘Chinese teaching to Korean’ based on the language differences and comparative analysis.
