The purpose of this study is to identify the difficulties that elementary school teachers face while guiding the life cycle of white cabbage butterflies and to present appropriate improvement directions in response to the needs of the field. A closed-type survey was conducted on 130 elementary school teachers to analyze the teaching experience of the field, and specific examples of the field were collected through an additional open-type survey of five elementary school teachers. As a result of the survey, the difficulties in guiding the life cycle of cabbage white butterflies could be summarized as factors of the material itself, teacher factors, student factors, and educational system factors. To solve these difficulties, it is necessary to provide on-site training to expand the opportunity for teachers to directly observe and explore the life cycle of the cabbage white butterfly, and to provide the necessary knowledge and information at the actual school site. In addition, it is necessary to reset the observation focus, study materials-diversification, present it including the context of inquiry activities, and seek long-term projects for curriculum integration.
