The Korean language curriculum is about to be revised in 2022. As soon as the 2022 curriculum is announced, the development of textbooks according to the 2022 curriculum will be of interest to the Korean language education academia. Elementary school Korean textbooks are expected to have a great impact on the front-line education field as they will be developed by the government in this curriculum. Although elementary school Korean textbooks have been developed under the government for a long time, there are still many limitations and points to be improved. Therefore, in this paper, what is the justification for the selection of texts for the development of Korean textbooks, what are the practical limitations, and a realistic direction for the selection of texts for Korean textbooks is presented. As a result, it was analyzed that there were considerable restrictions on the selection of Korean textbook texts in the process of reviewing policy logic and suitability when developing Korean textbooks in 2015, and that it was a factor that lowered the quality of Korean textbook texts. In addition, we analyzed the practical problems of the selection of texts for 2015 Korean textbooks. And based on this, a direction for the selection of Korean textbook texts was proposed.
